KATHARINE K. OWENS, Ed.D.
I'm a licensed psychologist, who has
been in private practice since 1978, focusing on helping
mid-life women create emotional health and healing as they transition from early
adult tasks to the second half of life.
The second half of life brings many
physical and emotional changes for women. I am dedicated to
joining with women as they explore new possibilities and potential in their lives.
I utilize my 25 + years of experience to help women stretch themselves into
rich lives with new potential for meaning, as children leave home, menopause and
post-menopause become a reality, peak earning years blossom or possibly retirement,
recommitment of a marriage or perhaps divorce. Most of all it is a time for
redefinition of self. Mid-life is a time of physical, emotional and spiritual
changes that some manage with ease, while others are seeking a professional to
guide, encourage and support them. Still others are coping with anxiety or
depression at this time.
I'm am a mid-life woman herself,
offering both individual and group psychotherapy with women as they search for
support through this critical time in their lives.
I
earned my Doctor of Education degree, with specialties in Counseling Psychology and
Educational Psychology, from Ball State University in 1979. Listed in the
National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, I'm a member of the
American Academy of Forensic Examiners, the International Critical Incident Stress
Foundation, the Association for Death Education and Counseling, and the Maryland
Psychological Association, and a founding fellow of the American College of Advanced
Practice Psychologists.
I'm currently has a private
practice in Annapolis, providing mental health services since 1972.
